March 25-26, 2022- Rock Sound

March 25, 2022- Rock Sound, Eleuthera
7:00am- Anchors are going up and leaving Staniel Cay and heading to Rock Sound in Eleuthera.
Watched the sunrise as we left.
It is rocky with waves around 5 to 8ft. We managed to have both sails up for a bit but then the wind died down around 9:15am. Steve has the fishing lines out.
11:45pm- Can’t believe we did not even get a nibble on both fishing rods. Where are the fish hiding?
12:15pm-  Can’t believe it!  We caught two fish on two rods at the same time. Steve brought in the Mahi and I hooked and partially brought in the Wahoo. Rubber skirt on the lure was shredded by the Wahoo teeth. Guess we will have to get Steve new lures. 😆
What a great Birthday gift.

Wahoo dinner coming up

Mahi dinner coming up

3:15pm- Arrived at Rock Sound. We covered 51.5 miles. We arrived just in time before a hard front of 40 knots blew in.
Here comes the rain. We will not be going out for dinner as planned but will bring fish over Sue and Gunter to cook.
I took advantage of the engine running and making hot water. I took a nice hot shower.
5:15pm- Rain stopped. 5:30pm- Brought a combo of Wahoo and Mahi fish over to chef Gunter who cooked up a great meal.
Everything including the fish was delicious. What a great way to celebrate my birthday.

What a great way to celebrate a birthday.

7:30pm- Came back to the boat just in time. As we got on the boat, it started raining.

Watched a movie and played solitaire before going to bed.
FYI. They still have not found the missing cruiser as of  tonight, so it doesn’t look good.

March 26, 2022

7:30am- Relaxed and had our coffee and breakfast.
After breakfast, we anchored temporarily  across the channel to the nearest grocery dock.
11:00am- We went to shore with Gunter and Sue to walk around.

We found the Blackhole which is 600ft deep.

Sue and Gunter treated us for my birthday to dinner at Frigate’s bar and grill. It was really good.

The policeman was very friendly and showed us all the bells and whistles on his vehicle.

We then went grocery shopping. Steve bought 24 Kaliks for $48.00.

3:30pm-  Came back to the boat and re-anchored across the channel to get more protection from the wind.  We are getting a lot of anchoring practise.

FYI
Sad to report,  we saw on Facebook that MV Countess Cosel was found on Andros coast and it’s skipper, Bernie is deceased. He was 80 years old travelling by himself.  He was still on the boat and the engine was still running. He had a heart condition. RIP.

4:00pm-  Steve and I dinghied to a beach nearby. We found 4 brand new life jackets washed up on the beach.
6:00pm-  We are still stuffed from our lunch  club sandwich.  So we are having tequila to try to give an appetite.
Not sure when we will be moving. Our goal is to get to the Abacos at this point. The weather has not been accurate. So it all depends on the wind.
