April 13 & 14, 2022- Treasure Cay

April 13, 2022
7:15am-  Having our coffee and breakfast before leaving Great Guana. 


8:30am- Anchors are going up and heading to Treasure Cay.  It is only 9.5 kn miles. 
Winds are 15-16mph from from SE with 2 ft waves. 
We are motor sailing 

I am anxious to see Treasure Cay after Dorian. For some reason, we don’t hear much about the progression from there like the other Cays. I am particularly interested since my sister and her husband plus friends Kim and Don rented a cute condo years ago when we first started sailing. I am anxious to see if they rebuilt them. Also, they have one of the most beautiful beaches. 
10:20am-  Arrived at Treasure Cay. Already we see a difference in what used to be and the entrance has changed. 
We didn’t waste time to go walk the beach. The marina was totally gone. No more bar, music, pool or dancing.   We also noticed the condo where my sister stayed was totally gone and the condos where our friend stayed was replaced with totally new ones. We walked 8 long km.  So many changes. 
The local grocery store  was a lot smaller however bakery was still there.  We took advantage of buying their delicious cinnamon buns for $5 each. Well worth it. So good. 
We checked out the liquor store and they sold 24 beers for $76 and 150 ml Patron tequila ( our favorite) for $138.00. Needless to say we did not indulge. 
Came back to the boat and had coffee and our cinnamon buns. 
1:30pm- I did some basket weaving and then practised guitar and ukulele all afternoon. Steve read. 
6:00pm-  Dinner tonight is Taco Wednesday. 



Tonight sunset is hazy thru the twigs. 
We watched several series before bedtime. 









April 14, 2022
7:00am- Steve made coffee this morning while I did a Pilates workout. I was a bit stiff from that long beach walked yesterday. 
It feels like it is going to be muggy today and it is calling for thunderstorms.

May 6, 2022 7:30am- After breakfast, we went back to the boat and made sure all the boat floor boards were lifted and we sprayed First Defence in case there are any bugs.  We locked her up and paid Sally the boat storage and lift out fee and left.  GaYa will be resting for another year.  We went to drop off our Certificate of Registry at US Customs as we always did however we no longe r have to do that. We have to wait until next December to get another cruising permit since the one we have expires December 6, 2023. It is not an easy lifestyle travelling on the boat but it brings you back to the simple life and it makes you appreciate the things you have at home such as running hot water, hot showers, dishwashers,  laundry machines and  all accessibilities  and conveniences of living on land.  We truly enjoy it and realize it is not for everyone. March 9-11, 2022- Staniel Cay

March 9, 2022 Happy Birthday to my wonderful daughters Natalie and Nicole. 6:30am- Woke up to the sounds of boaters zooming by several times with locals going to work from Black Point to probably Staniel Cay. Their taxi is a boat.  8:00am- Enjoyed a healthy breakfast of oatmeal and fresh fruit since we were able to get bananas and blueberries yesterday. Still haven’t found yogurt.  9:30am- Anchor is up and we are leaving Black Sound heading  to Staniel Cay. It isn’t far so we are going to take our time.  Sun Spirit and iiWii are following us. iiWii has a draft close to 7 ft and they have never chartered in these waters.  We will be sailing with  only the main sail and take our time. It is such a great sail going 5.5nm with only one sail.  10:15pm-  This super yacht named Fifty is just passing us and also going to Staniel Cay.
