March 7-8, 2022- Black Point

March 7, 2022
Another bumpy morning. The winds just keep coming. We were up on and off during the night. We can actually see on our iPad the boat moving around in the same spot from Navionics.
7:30am-  Had our coffee and breakfast.
I did some painting and basket weaving while Steve read.
10:00am- We decided to leave Little Bay and go to Black Point which is right around the corner.
We don’t seem to be getting the big swells here. It is wavy but not like Little Bay and now we can dinghy in town.
Others have moved here also.

2:00pm-  We were invited aboard by Fred and Sharon on the 80’ Northern Marine Yacht. We had a really nice visit. Of course, their boat, iiwii (it is what it is) was gorgeous.

Sharon and Fred gave us a tour of their lovely boat.
Their grand daughter is coming for a visit and they wanted a few pointers as to places to visit.

We sat at the stern of the boat.

4:30pm- We met Sue and Gunter at Lorraine’s restaurant for a drink and then went to Sunset restaurant for dinner In town.
Funny thing is the restaurant brings you the menu and by the time you talk to your waiter, you realize 3/4 of the menu is not available. That is so common in the Bahamas. It all depends on what provisions they have.
7:00pm-  Back at the boat, we watched a couple of series. It is so nice because the winds have really slowed down. We should get a good night sleep tonight.

Yesterday, when we went by the laundromat and asked the owner what time they would be opened. He said he is there 6am everyday. He asked if we wanted to buy tokens but seeing that we did not know whether we would bother, we decided to purchase them in the morning.
6:30am-  In the dinghy we go, we our coffee, thinking we would get a head start on the laundry. Of course, no surprise, no one was there. The door was open but no one was there to buy tokens.
7:45am- Steve eventually got tokens from the local restaurant. Good thing we came early because boaters started arriving with their wash at 8:00am and they have limited washers and dryers.

While sitting outside waiting for the wash to be done, I noticed a woman in the distance cutting up fish with seagulls flying all around her and a couple of cats waiting for a treat. No health department here.

It is a nice place to wait and do laundry since the view is spectacular.

9:30am-  We we’re back at our boat with clean clothes and bedding.

11:00am- Fred and Sharon from iiwii vessel called us to see if we wanted to go to lunch. They have never been in Black Point before. Sharon used to be a children’s school teacher and brought school supply for the Bahamian kids on the island.
12:00pm-  Had lunch at Lorraine restaurant where Sharon dropped off the kid’s supply.
I had the best club sandwich.
2:00pm-  I did basket weaving while Steve read.
4:00pm-  We both went for a swim off the boat and then took a nice hot shower.
7:00pm-   We were so full from lunch that we did not want to eat dinner. We just had chips while watching a series.
It was nice that the waters and winds were calm.
