January 23, 2022 - Rudder Cay

January 23, 2022

6:30am- Did my daily exercise routine and then we had coffee as we watched the sun rise behind the clouds.
It doesn’t take long before the cloud come in and it all disappears.

7:45am-  Coconut bread French toast for breakfast.

8:30am-Leaving Black Point and headed to Little Farmer’s Cay.

Everything feels wet because of high humidity and the sun hasn’t burned it off yet.

I noticed on our way, there are many places along the banks to anchor. You see on Navionics all the anchorages and protected areas.
10:30am-  As we arrived at Little Farmer’s Cay, we noticed there wasn’t much going on. Everything is shut down on Sunday for worship day Went thru Farmer’s cut and heading to Rudder’s Cay. Steve put out a fishing line. We could see lightning in the SW.
11:00am- Going by Musha Cay, we can see the buildings on the private island resort owned by the Illusionist David Copperfield. 6 years ago it was $39k per day with a minimum of 4 nights. I am sure prices have doubled.
It is 60 ft deep and you can see the bottom. That is what you call crystal clear water.
12:00pm- Arrived at Rudder Cut. It was slack tides so it wasn’t bad going through the cut. Usually there is quite a current. Anchored just in time before the rain. We covered 20 miles and right beside a cave.
We will have to explore later.
1:30am- As I was making tea, the sun was coming out.
2:30pm-  Went to a cave beside our boat and noticed a hole at the top where you can see trees. Then we dinghied to the site where the mermaid is playing piano under the water. We just used our viewing bucket  to view it rather than dive.
3:00pm- While Steve listened  to football with the Rams vs  Bucks, I finally did some painting.
5:00pm- Dinner pasta and sausages

5:30pm- Since Steve was still listening to football, I dinghied to the mermaid under water while the tides were down. I also watched the sunset from the dinghy and put it right in front of GaYa.
6:00pm- Looks like the Bucks lost. Now he gets to listen Buffalo plays against Kansas. I worked on organizing my photos.
9:45pm-  I had to laugh. The game went into overtime and after listening to 6 hours of football, Steve had to start the boat engine to build up power to continue watching it.
10pm- Bills lost however it was a good game.
We will decide whether we stay or move on in the morning.
