February 12, 2022- Sailing to George Town

February 12, 2022 
3:30am- Woke up to a gust of rain. As I looked out the boat, I see the half moon  brightness smeared by the cloud. It was mesmerizing. After 1/2 hour, everything calmed down. 
7:00am-  Headed to George Town. We are under full sails and two fishing rods dragging. 
We are sailing along with S/V Shooting Stars 






9:00am- We decided to speed things up and we put up our asymmetrical sail (reaching sail). The boat was going 8 knots. Beautiful sail.  
10:00am- Took down the reaching sail since we were entering the harbour in George Town. 
With both the main and the jib, we are still going 7 knots. 
In the meantime, I had to go knead the bread  since it has been rising for 3 hours. Now we wait for another 3 hours. 
Looks like the positive fish vibes which my neighbour sent us did not manifest. Still haven’t caught a fish from our boat yet. 
10:30am-  We are anchored back in George Town. 
12:00pm-  Made us bean salad for lunch. 
Now we relax. 
2:45- The bread came out of the oven and of course we sample it. While Steve read, I painted. 
3:00pm-  We both went for a swim and then took a shower. It is never a long one however always appreciate it. Of course, now we make water. We let it run for 1.5 hours before shutting it.down. 
5:15pm-  Just as we lit up the barbecue to grill vegetables, it started raining. Funny to see boaters on their dinghy rushing to their boats to close their hatch. Nothing worse than a wet bed. 
5:55pm- Dinner tonight was Queen snapper which Steve caught before, broccoli, cauliflower, asparagus, zucchini and coconut rice. Now I am stuffed. 
6:30pm- Watched a couple of series before Steve went to bed to read and I stayed up to practice my ukulele before bedtime.

April 13, 2022 7:15am-  Having our coffee and breakfast before leaving Great Guana.  8:30am- Anchors are going up and heading to Treasure Cay.  It is only 9.5 kn miles.  Winds are 15-16mph from from SE with 2 ft waves.  We are motor sailing  I am anxious to see Treasure Cay after Dorian. For some reason, we don’t hear much about the progression from there like the other Cays. I am particularly interested since my sister and her husband plus friends Kim and Don rented a cute condo years ago when we first started sailing. I am anxious to see if they rebuilt them. Also, they have one of the most beautiful beaches.  10:20am-  Arrived at Treasure Cay. Already we see a difference in what used to be and the entrance has changed.  We didn’t waste time to go walk the beach. The marina was totally gone. April 27 - May 2, 2022- Haul-out time

April 27 - 29, 2022 7:00am- Before our coffee, we said goodbye to Sue and Gunter as they leave for Jacksonville to haul out their boat there. It felt very surreal.  Now the work begins. First called our landscaper back home because apparently our lawn needs cutting.  After breakfast, we took an Uber to pick up our truck which was in storage. After removing the cover, we knew she needed a good wash.  We then went to Storage King USA to reserve a climate control storage unit. According to Riverside Marina, they will not be able to haul us out until next week.  April 27-29,  2022 Our new hats which we got at the Fort Pierce City Marina.  Things we have done so far to start putting the boat away  -Steve filled the boat up with fuel and emptied the Jerry can in order to store them in the storage bin  -We brought the kayak and a few fenders also to storage along with other things which we will no longer need such as life jackets.  -Steve thoroughly...

December 31, 2021 -Happy New Year.

December 31, 2021  Happy New Year to all my blogger readers.  4:00am- We are off to West End in the Bahamas. It is approximately 55 miles. It should take about 10 hours to get there depending on the wind.  This is a night photo of Gunter and Sue following us in the Gulf  stream as we were leaving West Palm.  My adrenaline goes up just as we are hoisting the anchor in the middle of the night. I get so excited when we leave in the dark with all the stars gazing down at us. It is also very disorienting and the depth perception  is deceiving. You have to take your time and have someone looking out at all times.   4:15am- Sun Spirit is staying close behind us since their running lights are not working. Something Gunter will have to check in the Bahamas.  7:00am- As we see light appearing, we noticed we do not see any land and that there is no cellular service.
