January 15-17, 2022 - Cambridge Cay
January 15, 2022
It is a beautiful morning and all is calm
6:30am- Did my morning exercise and then relaxed with a coffee and had raisin bread french toast. Levy from s/v Maillie came to talk to us to tell us there is more weather coming from the West which is not good if you are anchoring. Instead of Staniel Cay we decided to go to Cambridge Cay on a mooring. The issue will be if there are any moorings available
We went with 2 other couples and snorkelled at in a cave and drifted along the reef in the cut and then finished up at the aquarium. We were all getting cold so came back to the boat after 2 hours.
4:00pm- Relaxed on the boat until sundowner happy hour on the beach where we finally met other boaters who also had boat cabin fever.

10:00- Went for a nice long walk along the beach and rocks. Huge waves coming in. Nice to get out.

7:30am- The sun was shining on Sun Spirit.
8:30am- We disconnected from the mooring at Land and Sea and off we go.
10:15am- We covered 10 miles and arrived on a mooring at Cambridge Cay also known as Little Bells Cay. We are so pleased to be on a mooring because of the upcoming weather. Nice thing also is we have cellular connection.
12:00pm- Had lunch before Ruth and Fred from s/v Shooting Star came by to see if we wanted to go snorkelling. The area offers access to several reefs that are among the most diverse in the park.
6:00pm- Steve barbecued a killer porc chop. So good. The water is so clear you can see the bull sharks swimming under our boat.
What a lovely evening.
Watch one series after dinner.
8:15pm- Steve listened to Buffalo Bills play on satellite. Glad friends are letting him know when they are playing. He is a happy man since Buffalo won.
11:30pm- Guess it can’t be all good. Of all the boats in the mooring section, there are 2 motor boats and they have their lights shining which isn’t bad but blaring music which is magnified by the water. No consideration for others. They were the only boats in the area who were not able to get a mooring. I am wondering whether they are trying to get people to leave tomorrow so they can get a mooring or just too drunk. Who knows.
They finally stopped at midnight. This is the latest we have gone to bed in a while. . Nighty night.

Woke up around 6am and as I looked out, one of the big motor boats was moving. His anchor must of dragged. They moved closer to the beach.
7am- Had our morning coffee and raisin bread toast.
9:00am- Steve is worried about the other 70 ft cruiser who is anchored in front of us. They never left enough room between us if they start dragging. So far there is no life. Probably hanging from last night. So we wait for someone to come out so we can cordially ask them to move up.
9:30am- Steve finally talked to the Captain of the cruiser to move. He said the other boat dragged on them and bumped with them and dragged them 5 ft closer to us. So that is why the other boat moved. Now they are going to move. Yay! They actually left.
11:30am- Steve ran the motor boat for a bit to heat up water.
12:00pm- Can you believe it! The blue boat that dragged onto the party cruiser boat at 5 am, moves from the beach near our boat. It didn’t take long before Steve hopped on his dinghy and motored over there to express his concerns. The captain apologized and said he lost his chain in the last hurricane and only has rope. Steve told him he needs to put our 2 anchors for the size of his boat. They anchored far from us. The boat has been chain scraped marks so you can see the boat has been through something.
1:00- Laid down a bit since we didn’t get much sleep last night.
2:00pm- Enjoyed a nice cup of tea and then did a few necessary chores. Cleaned out the lazerat on the starboard side and then did small repairs around the boat.
4:45pm - Sue and Gunter came for dinner. We finished the red snapper we purchased last week. It was so good. We played a card game.
8:09pm- It started raining a bit so Sue and Gunter headed back to their boat before it poured.
Steve and I watched the lightning in the distance coming this way. The wind picked up and the wind came from SW at approximately 20mph. We heard some boats who were on anchor blowing their horn and then we heard on the radio that some boats were being blown too close to others when the high wind came through.
We went to bed around 9:30pm. I am sure there is more to come. Glad we are on a mooring.

1:30am- Got up to look out and noticed everything was calm and the moon was lightning us up with its. brightnesses. So peaceful.
5:30am- Got up to see if I could see the moon setting however it was cloudy.
Couldn’t resist taking this shot.
8:30- While having a coffee we noticed a plane landing and taking off right in front of us. They picked up passengers from Aga Khan ‘s island. So interesting how they do it in between the anchored boats.

5:30pm- After dinner, watched a series as we watched the full moon rise.
What a lovely evening.
Fred and Ruth Ann from s/v Shooting Star left their mooring and went to Staniel Cay. That is what we plan on doing tomorrow.
After lunch, we took the dinghy to snorkel at the aquarium with Gunter and Sue. Unfortunately, when Steve went in, he said it wasn’t clear. So no one else bothered. Good news was, after Steve showered, we went to Gunter and Sue’s boat for hot muffins and coffee. It was like going to Starbucks.
4:00pm - I started organizing all 500 photos which I have on my iPhone.
5:30pm- After dinner, watched a series as we watched the full moon rise.
What a lovely evening.
