GaYa on the move again 2021-2022

April 13, 2022 7:15am-  Having our coffee and breakfast before leaving Great Guana.  8:30am- Anchors are going up and heading to Treasure Cay.  It is only 9.5 kn miles.  Winds are 15-16mph from from SE with 2 ft waves.  We are motor sailing  I am anxious to see Treasure Cay after Dorian. For some reason, we don’t hear much about the progression from there like the other Cays. I am particularly interested since my sister and her husband plus friends Kim and Don rented a cute condo years ago when we first started sailing. I am anxious to see if they rebuilt them. Also, they have one of the most beautiful beaches.  10:20am-  Arrived at Treasure Cay. Already we see a difference in what used to be and the entrance has changed.  We didn’t waste time to go walk the beach. The marina was totally gone. April 11 & 12, 2022 6:15- Rise and shine. Time to make coffee for the Captain.  6:45am-- Leaving Hopetown and going to Great Guana Cay. High tides were at 3:30am and we had to make sure they were somewhat up since we would hit bottom on low tide going out the channel.  I had to put on pants this morning. It is 70F but it feels like fall with the fluffy clouds and the coolness.   Goodbye Hopetown It is always fascinating  to watch the sun rise behind the clouds.The rays cascade down. Just beautiful.  7:30am- We are going 4.5 knots with just our head sail. Nice to save on fuel and we are in no rush since our destiny is near.  8:15am- It is ironic that as we are sailing we are listening to the cruisers net although the reception wasn’t very good.  It is such a beautiful sail and it was the first time I practiced my ukulele while we were on the way.  8:30am- We actually went to a speed of a speed of 6.6kn just with our head sail.  9:00am...

April 4, 2022 6:00am-  Woke up this morning to the roosters singing.  The water is so calm and absolutely no wind. The water is so clear. 8:15am-  Listened to the net and then released our mooring and going to Hopetown.  9:30am- After a 4.5 km crossing, we arrived at Hopetown and got a mooring.  We dropped off our laundry at Andrew’s bike shop. It will be ready at 3:30pm.  As we’re walking along, we immediately noticed big changes since Dorian. Many restaurant and home totally gone.  This used to be a place where we would go to the restaurant and swim in their pool. The pool is full with dirt and grass.  We went to the fuel dock and filled up our dinghy gas tank.  12:00pm-  We met Sue and Gunter at the Hope Town Marina restaurant.  The intention was to eat and then swim in their pool. Clouds formed and it got cooler. We went back to the boat until laundry was done.  I had coconut fried chicken sandwich. Delicious!  3:00pm...
